| TOT probes boards lack of opposition to arbitration panel's chair
TOT has set up a committee to investigate its former board of directors and other relevant persons over an alleged failure to protect the state agency's interest that might cost it Bt14 billion. Board director Vuthiphong Priebjrivat yesterday said the committee would question them as to why they failed to oppose Prasit Kowilaikul's chairmanship of the arbitration panel that in January ruled in favour of True against TOT in their network-access dispute. TOT president Somkual Buraminhentr said the probe would target former information and communications-technology minister Surapong Suebwonglee, former TOT chairman Sathit Limpongpan and former acting TOT president Aran Permpibool. The move came after the Auditor-General's Office sent a letter to TOT chairman Saprang Kalayanamitr on Thursday asking the agency to question relevant parties about allegations they did not oppose Prasit's chairmanship.

Prescription drug negotiations not favored by informed voters
It's hard to believe that anyone would say "not me" to the above question. But in the case of prescription drugs, lower costs in the near term threaten to cripple our nation's ability to invent new cures in the long term - a possibility that Democratic backers of "cheap drugs" are quietly hoping the public ignores. .
West Indies Players To Get Richer Despite Poor Show At The World Cup
Despite the poor show so far in the Super Eight phase of the cricket World Cup, West Indies players are in for a windfall as an independent committee ruled in favour of hike in players' share out of ICC largesse to the Windies Board. While the Indian board, after the team's debacle in the World Cup, has announced performance-based payment for the players, the West Indies players will earn anywhere between 110,000 and 180,000 dollar depending on seniority. The West Indies Cricket Board is also in touch with Mittal Steel, along with bat makers Slazenger, to step in as new team sponsors for the World Cup. According to media reports, the decision on payments came after a second ruling by an independent arbitration committee that first met on February 11 to settle a disagreement between the cricket board and the players' association.
The Office: The Negotiation
After weeks of extra-special reruns, tonight was the night we've been waiting for -- Roy was ready to get all medieval on Jim for kissing Pam at the end of last season. Instead of getting sweet justice with a punch to Jim's face, Roy (and pretty much the rest of the office) got pepper-sprayed... by Dwight. He also had nunchucks and throwing stars on hand just in case, making Dwight ready for just about any office conflict. The end result: Roy was fired and Angela was very turned on. Because of Roy's absence, Darryl wanted a raise. In negotiations, we discovered that Michael "accidentally" bought a woman's suit -- and wore it to the office. He also makes an embarrassing living, so he winds up going to corporate in search of a raise for himself. As part of the deal, Michael needs to bring Toby to document everything.
